"En i sannhet flott maltwhisky"
"Mackmyra har, og det bare på noen få år, klart å skape seg et navn i konkurranse med skottene – som jo har et lite forsprang. Men det er ingen kopi, for svenskewhiskyen har særpreg, mye takket være en touch av svensk eik fra Visingö. Dessuten modnes den i små fat, hvilket sørger for at den raskere blir drikkeklar. En i sannhet flott maltwhisky."

"The 1st Edition has character"
Nose
Custard slices, cherry stone/marzipan and a hint of angelica before a shift to freesia then iced biscuits. High toned.
A little naked with water suggestive of youth, but has character.
Palete
Gentle and fairly sweet. Lychee like fruits. Well balanced. Moves into tinned peach. Best neat as water brings out a new make note.
Finish
Short and clean.
Comments
Mackmyra comes of age and it's good.

"A comfort on a rainy day"
Nose
Light and floral. Unripe lemon at first nose. Then opening on sweet notes. Lemonade. Vanilla waffle.
Palete
Smooth. Round and gentle; bowl of cereals. Muësli with grapefruit segments. Yogurt. A touch of white chocolate. A delicate minty note.
Finish
Not long but smooth with a slight almondy note.
Comments
A dram which needs time to reveal itself. Young maybe but well shaped. A comfort on a rainy day.

"More please!"
"The first 'big' release from this Swedish distillery. I’m very impressed. It’s youthful, but not immature. Very intriguing too.
Bright notes of ripe orchard fruit and soothing vanilla cream on the nose and palate, along with more subtle bramble, silky honey
and caramel, toasted coconut, marshmallow, bread dough and grist. Teasing smoke emerges occasionally, adding to this whisky’s delight.
Clean, toasted oak finish. I particularly enjoy the complex interplay between the fruit and sweetness. A fun whisky with a playful
personality. More please! "

"The best mackmyra so far"
The last two Preludium bottlings from the distillery suggest that it's found its footing, and the new bottling called First Edition and effectively the first Mackmyra proper, is a cracker. How wonderful to see a distillery quite literally coming of age.

Colour
Chartreuse/primerose yellow
Body
Silky and sensuous with a smooth viscous texture. It’s a light bodied spirit which shows all the exuberant passion of youth, completely free of the weight of oak and the passage of time. It stimulates and uplifts the senses beautifully.
Aroma
The first notes to rise are of clear honey over fresh pineapple and melon with a zest of lemon rind. It’s a brilliant opening; fresh sweet and citrus really brings the olfactory senses alive and prepares them for the second aromatic phase which takes about 4-5 minutes to emerge. Then the mellowing sweet nature of the oak gives aromas lightly nutty tannins, rich vanilla and hints of spicy gingerbread. The crisp dry sweetness of the toasted malted barley evolves last and holds it all together in a beautifully balanced experience.
Taste
The sensations experienced by the nose can all be found in the last taste which is a sign of good distilling practice, however more fruit flavours become apparent; peach and apricot, almost yoghurt like, which is a bonus. They bring even more complexity and help the balance between oak and fruit. The texture is vicious due to non chill filtering and helps to cool the heat normally experienced from younger single malts. The spirit has a vitality – it’s dynamic, exciting and has loads of attitude, it’s ready to rock – so enjoy the ride!!!
Finish
The length of the finish is not so long, nor would you expect it to be; this is like a teenager, just full of the joys of life, without a care in the world, however the last note you find as you empty your glass, is the mellow sweetness of the oak, a clear sign that this kid has a very bright future, 'Be part of it'.

"En förnämligt destillerad produkt"
"Liten, ren och elegant, initialt spritig doft med mild maltkaraktär och en svag ton av menthol och pepparmynta som balanseras av en underliggande, integrerad fatkaraktär. Smaken är mild, rund och fruktig med torr vaniljfetma och lång, god eftersmak.
Att bedöma prisvärdet ger jag mig inte in på. Det vore lika förmätet som att sätta betyg på konst. Vad är förresten mest prisvärt, det godaste eller det billigaste? Det är marknaden som sätter priset och i detta fall har tidigare lanseringar visat att priset åtminstone inte är för högt.
Låt mig därför sammanfatta och säga att den första utgåvan av Mackmyras slutwhisky är en snäll whisky som inte alls tränger sig
på eller tar sin omedelbara plats, utan snarare kräver eftertanke och tid i glaset. Helt klart är det en förnämligt destillerad
produkt, men de som älskar Islaywhisky kan ändå bli besvikna."

"Överraskande fin harmoni"
"Medelåldern på whiskyn är cirka fem år, vilket är en kort lagringstid för maltwhisky som normalt ligger 10, 12 eller 16 år på fat innan de lanseras. Den svenska whiskyn har dock lagrats på mindre fat än de skotska kollegernas vilket ger en mer intensiv prägel från faten och en snabbare mognad. Därför uppvisar whiskyn redan en överraskande fin harmoni med en avrundad, något söt, ton av torkad frukt tillsammans med inslag av vanilj och kryddor från faten."

"Välgjord!"
"I morgon är den svenska whiskyn Mackmyra ute på marknaden på riktigt. "Första Utgåvan" heter den. Det är en snällare variant än de sex föregångarna i Preludiumserien. Den låga åldern har markerats genom lagring på små ekfat som påskyndat mognadstonerna. Smaken är skotsk men ändå något annorlunda, kanske för att en del av ekfaten är svenska. Frisk i näsa och gom med apelsin-, nejlike- och vaniljtoner med en liten smörighet. Välgjord!"

"Given på vilken provning som helst"
"Mycket fruktig doft och smak, med friska toner av citrus och en knappt förnimbar touch av rök. Jag är ingen Einstein, men tiden går uppenbarligen fortare ju mindre fat man lagrar whisky i. Mackmyra har använt 100-literstunnor och fått sin högst sexåriga whisky integrerad och skotsk i stilen helt utan råa sprittoner. Eftersmaken är lång och god. Det dröjer nog ett tag innan det här blir min huswhisky men den är given på vilken provning som helst."

"Mackmyra, as expected, has really come around and has retained those initial characteristics I have come to love and get familiar with, setting it apart, and together still with other great worldly whiskies. This is a drinking whisky, glad to see it's being released in a 70cl bottle! Very enjoyable, complex, thought provoking and
